Bethan is a fluent Welsh speaker able to provide services in both Welsh & English.
Her practice is rooted in empathy, authenticity & a deep commitment to maintaining a holistic view of those that she works with, and tuning into their health & wellbeing.

Music Therapy
What is
Music Therapy?
Music Therapy is an evidence-based clinical psychological practice that support clients' social, emotional, psychological, cognitive & physical health & wellbeing. Methods can include improvisation, song-writing, listening, singing or sound exploration.
A range of instruments & musical styles and preferences can be used in sessions, and no musical experience is required.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of this practice, with the musical play between therapist & client the catalyst for connecting and exploring self-expression.
Who is
Music Therapy for?
Music Therapy can be accessed by people of all ages & backgrounds who would like to explore an alternative to verbal therapies to address their personal therapeutic goals.
This can prove an accessible option for those who are non-verbal or feel a creative outlet will better support their verbal expressions in a therapy context, as music can connect at a deeper level.
Music Therapy can help with those wanting to work with a qualified Music Therapist on emotional expression & regulation, understanding of self, psychological conditions, functional goals and social connection.
Where do
Music Therapy sessions take place?
Currently, MelodiCare Cymru provide Music Therapy sessions by travelling to individual clients' homes or organisational settings. It's a good idea to ensure a suitable space at your home or location is available.
Where possible, a quiet, private space is preferred when working with 1:1 clients in organisations, as sessions are confidential.
Musical instruments and equipment are provided, however clients and organisations are welcome to introduce instruments they may have in sessions.

Sessions may be booked on a 1:1 basis or for groups.
Block bookings are available for organisations at a discounted rate.
Please contact for pricing.

Neurologic Music Therapy®
Neurologic Music Therapy® (NMT™) is a standardised clinical treatment targeting sensorimotor, cognitive and speech & language needs.
The specialised, evidence-based model consists of 20 standardised techniques to work on functional non-musical goals, employed through structured musical interventions to address rehabilitative, adaptive and neurological needs. This can be on a 1:1 basis or as a group.
MelodiCare Cymru embraces humanistic, person-centred approaches whilst working with NMT™, to both support clients' functional goals whilst attending to social, emotional & psychological wellbeing.
NMT™ practitioners can work individually or with other allied healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech & language therapists to enrich clients' treatment plans.
MelodiCare Cymru can provide services informed by NMT™ for (but not limited to) the following populations:
Acquired/Traumatic Brain Injury
Movement Disorders (e.g. Parkinson's disease)
Stroke survivors
Alzheimer's & Dementia
Sessions may be booked on a 1:1 basis or for groups.
Block bookings are available for organisations at a discounted rate.
Please contact for pricing.

Techniques targetting cognitive goals will address needs in the areas of attention, executive function, memory, psychosocial, and sensory integration. Therapists use structured active and receptive musical exercises to engage the brain and alleviate and improve issues surrounding memory, executive functioning, behaviour and inhibition.
Cognitive

These techniques can address a range of speech and language goals including breath support, word retrieval, word fluency, articulation, voicing volume, voice inflection, and non-verbal expressive communication. Rhythmic exercises and singing are used to enhance muscular control of the speech and respiratory systems, improving articulation, facilitating the initiation of speech sounds, encouraging speech production, refining pitch, inflection, breath support, and volume, as well as increasing overall speech clarity.

Sensorimotor techniques are a common area in NMT™. Music and rhythm can be used to enhance motor behaviour and responses. Rhythm plays an important role by providing timing as a foundation for movement, while auditory stimuli activate the brain and triggers the different senses. Musical patterns and instruments are common within the sensorimotor techniques as a way of addressing various motor movements

Music Wellbeing
Workshops
A music wellbeing workshop offers participants the opportunity to explore the therapeutic benefits of music in a supportive & fun environment. We focus on using music to promote general wellbeing, creativity, and relaxation. A non-clinical option centred on relaxation, boosting mood, and building community through shared experiences.
Bespoke workshops for up to 15 people are available for schools & educational settings, care settings, charity organisations & community groups. With nearly 15 years teaching experience and a Masters in Educational Practice, MelodiCare Cymru specialises in working with children & young people in educational settings, with extensive and contemporary knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales and inclusivity at the core of wellbeing workshops.
MelodiCare Cymru tailor workshops to the specific aims of your organisation, whether this is a wellbeing need, educational goal or theme. Instruments & equipment are provided, however and it's a good idea to ensure you have a suitable space available.
Workshops can be booked on a one-off basis or as a series.
